Godfrey Hirst Australia - Geelong
Established in 1865, Godfrey Hirst was Victoria ’s first commercial woollen mill. The 33-hectare Geelong site employs hundreds of people across various areas of production as well as corporate administration.
The site contains state-of-the-art continuous dyeing and printing facilities, comprehensive spinning works, computerized tufting systems and advanced finishing equipment for the production of wool, nylon, polypropylene and blended carpets. Thousands of metres of fine tufted carpet are produced from the Geelong plant every day.
Riverside Textiles - Geelong
With some of the most advanced nylon yarn twisting and heat setting processes in the world, Riverside Textiles manufactures high-quality nylon yarns for Godfrey Hirst carpets. With six production lines, the average weekly output is in excess of 120 tonnes.
Riverside Textiles has excellent production flexibility, processing both Nylon 6 and Nylon 6,6 in a variety of twist levels (including frieze).
The plant operates a multicolor dyer to produce the tracery or “space dyed” nylon yarns that feature in a number of Godfrey Hirst carpet products. These yarns can be processed to virtually any color specification, using totally random patterns and short length repeats from as little as 10mm. Riverside Textile’s specially-trained technicians can meet custom requirements for jobs of all sizes, with excellent batch-to-batch reproduction.
Fibremakers - Bayswater
Fibremakers is the only plant in the southern hemisphere that is wholly owned by a carpet manufacturer and capable of producing such a diverse range of synthetic yarn.
Nylon 6 white and color, Nylon 6,6 and polypropylene fibres are extruded, twisted, and air entangled to create yarn for the use in Godfrey Hirst carpets including Godfrey Hirst Statron® solution-dyed nylon.
With advanced color matching capabilities and design flexibility, Fibremakers can fulfil custom orders for carpets, rugs, automotive textiles and more.
Benalla Spinners Pty Ltd. - Benalla
Acquired by Godfrey Hirst in 1993, Benalla Spinners Pty Ltd is wholly devoted to the manufacture of woollen yarns for use in Godfrey Hirst carpets. The facility comprises a number of advanced operations including Blending, Spinning, Twisting and Heat-setting.

The site has recently expanded to meet increased production demands and now houses a Superba heat-setting department, waste recycling department and a raw materials storage department.
Benalla Spinners operates 24 hours, 5 days a week and employs approximately 140 people.
